If you are already established, your cleaning company may receive RFP’s (Request For Proposals) from commercial establishments every now and then. However, if you are just starting, you may have to seek that out yourself first. In the house cleaning business, where your services are aimed at residential clients, there is no need for proposals – although there are some who would appreciate one, even just an informal one.

Formal proposals are usually about 25 pages long, give or take a few pages; and an informal proposal is as simple as a letter format that is usually just 1-2 pages long. Formal or informal, what is important is the content. The main purpose of a proposal is to let your prospective client know what services you intend to provide for them. So you may come up with formal ones for big companies who specifically asked for it, or informal ones for residential clients of your house cleaning business – but what’s important is that the content can convince the prospective client to hire you.

General Tips When Submitting Proposals

If you are submitting to a proposal, it doesn’t matter if you were sent an RFP or you sought one; what is important is that you are submitting a proposal in response to an RFP (Request For Proposal). It is very important that you follow the RFP’s instructions to the letter. That may sound like high school all over again, but that’s how it should be.

Next, make sure you emphasize in the proposal your skills and expertise in relevance to the job. Through the proposal you should be showing to your prospective client that you are the best one for the job. So include information on education, experience, professional memberships, and so on. Include all information on these aspects as far as people involved in the job are concerned. If you have a partner with skills, include that. If your cleaning crew (who will be working on the job for that establishment) has some skills and expertise, include it too. Hence, your proposal is your chance for a cleaning business opportunity – do your best.
